Every year during the 2nd weekend in July, the town of Sisseton hosts our Celebrate Sisseton Days where we celebrate our diverse and special community! Along with the mainstay events like the Street Dance and parade, the focus will be the unique cultures, art & history of our community. Fireworks at the baseball field will kickoff the festivities on Friday evening. A wide array of live music and entertainment will be performing at the stage at Anderson Park all day Saturday, located downtown. There will also be various art, craft, and food vendors lining the park for all to enjoy. Many fun and exciting activities for the kids will be at the park, thanks to one of our generous community organizations. Our historic Stavig House Museum will host Pie on the Porch to encourage festival goers to step back in time and enjoy each other's company. There will be a tipi raising ceremony Saturday morning with each tipi having a "pop-up" art gallery, traditional Dakota games for the kids, workshops showcasing traditional crafts, or a mini museum of Dakota artifacts. Down the road at Memorial Park the SWO Youth Dept. will host several sport tournaments and fun activities and treats for the kids. Saturday evening will have an aquatic themed Movie in the Pool, for families to attend instead of the Street Dance. Throughout the weekend, alumni of Sisseton High School will have meetups, a banquet dinner, and a golf tournament at Valley View. We hope to keep add a few new events every year to make this weekend even more memorable for the attendees.
